DO NOT fill out an application until you have fully read over the pet contract. Afterwards you may complete our Puppy Application interactively above by clicking "Puppy Application form" or Click here for the PDF version and return via email.(If you do not have email, no problem, give me a call and I can have you mail it in to me if that is easier. NO home will be considered for a puppy without a application on file. Please fill free to include any additional information that you would like for us to know! We do work off of a waitlist or by first come first serve depending on what you are looking for. Each breeding has unique characteristics in terms of temperament, activity level, and showmanship ability. While we may not have puppies available immediately when you reach out, we encourage you to fill out our application to join our waitlist. On average, our wait time for the perfect puppy ranges from 6 to 12 months.

Once your application has been reviewed & accepted, we will mutually agree on a time to conduct the interview process (this is the fun part)! I would really appreciate involving all of the adults in the household during this visit. At this time I will discuss more about our breeding program, our expectations of our homes, what your expectations are of your breeder, & the upcoming litter plans. Bring on all the questions, this is a big decision and we love sharing this passion with our homes. These interviews do not always happen immediately after filling out the application. We open up for applications about 1-2 months prior to a breeding taking place and will announce this on our website & Facebook page that interviews have opened so that we can set up a time to chat. We occasionally already have a waitlist started and litters may be full prior to being bred. Please view the Litters & Available dogs page to see what litters we currently have open for interviews. Please add our Facebook group for faster information and extra photos and videos of our program.

After we have approved for one of our puppies to join your family, your name will be placed on our waiting list for the next upcoming litter (or a future litter that we have discussed). We try to have a plan at least 6 months out, sometimes more. This does not always happen. Please be patient. I do not keep "instant" puppies ready at will. The breeding's take time, patience, & planning. I do suggest all new homes or new dog owners purchase two books to read while waiting for your new family member. Both are listed below in our "kit" both are under "Training your new puppy". This will give you a jump start on training techniques prior to the arrival of your new puppy.
(Repeat homes do not need to fill out an additional application)

Aubergine Goldens Puppy Placements:
At Aubergine Goldens, we take the placement of our puppies very seriously. We carefully screen prospective puppy families to ensure the best match for both the puppy and the family. This is done roughly 7.5-8.5 weeks of age. We will choose which puppy goes home with each family. No we will not allow our homes to pick their puppy. We do allow and encourage show / performance homes to join us during the puppy evaluations.
-
Lifetime Support and Resources:
We offer lifetime support for all our puppy families, including comprehensive puppy packets filled with tips and pointers to help ease the transition of your new puppy into your home. You will also receive numerous online and paper resources to provide you with all the information you might need. I am always available as a resource, even after the puppy leaves our home. I offer my time and knowledge to all of my homes for guidance throughout my puppies lifetime. Please always feel welcome to contact me for any and all concerns.

Health and Care of Our Breeding Stock:
All breeding stock in our program undergoes the four recommended health clearances set by the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) before being bred. This includes OFA clearances for hips, elbows, heart, and eyes, all recorded on the official Orthopedic Foundation for Animals website. We will also do genetic testing through Embark, PawPrint Genetics, Animal Genetics, or PennGen. Our dogs are our beloved pets and live with us in our home, not in kennels or runs.
-
Puppy Socialization and Raising:
Our puppies are raised in our home with our family and children. They benefit from early socialization through a combination of Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), the Super Dog program, and the Puppy Culture program. All of our puppies experience something new each day. They are handled by experienced children to ensure they enjoy little humans as much as the adult humans. We are very observant to what our puppies need each week.
-
Commitment to Breed Improvement:
We carefully select our pairings to enhance the Golden Retriever breed as a whole. Our breedings are not done out of convenience but through extensive research to find the best possible stud dogs for our females. We only breed 1-3 litters each year and usually keeping puppies back to enhance our breeding program.
-
Puppy Package and Follow-Up:
All puppies go home with AKC Limited Registration, a microchip, their first set of vaccinations. Our worming protocol starts at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. Puppies will go home with a negative fecal and physical exam done by our Veterinarian. We will also include informational paperwork to help care for your new puppy in the next few weeks. This is a fun but exhausting step in the process, so I am available for support in the weeks following the transition to ensure any questions or concerns are addressed. Puppies can take a couple of weeks to adjust to the new environment.
